oprah

I started watching Oprah in the mid 80's. Coming home from morning swim practice in the summer I would throw a pizza in the oven for breakfast and sit back and watch the show. It was ritual. Over the years I would make fun of Oprah and her self help advice that spawned whole categories of books. Then she got serious and recommended books. Most were fiction which was a relief to the self-help crap. Then along camr the Frey book. Oprah was obviously touched by it. She even delayed the anouncement of the following book recommedation, "Night", so the Frey book could ride the wave of pub just a little longer. When the bubble burst on its truthiness, Oprah had Frey on the show. This was yesterday. Oprah was like a mother bear protecting her cub (the Oprah show empire whose cred has been stained). It was certainly the best Oprah I have ever seen and I would be hard pressed to find better TV out there. Over 60 minutes Oprah eviserated Frey and his editor. Frey became a boy. Chin down, flop sweat. Oprah destroyed him. Frey still tried to evade the word "lie". As a writer he was still hunting for words and used "altered" instead. Oprah had none of it. Oprah, you want to run for pres, you got my vote.
